How to Make a Hammered Circle Pendant
I love wire and I especially love hammering the heck out of it to make this cool look (and to get out any frustrations you may have!)I got this strand of Rainbow Fluorite Round Beads 7-8mm from Happy Mango Beads and the gems are variations of some of my favorite colors, so I have been using them as much as possible. And since I'm only using a few beads for each project, they really stretch. So far I showed you this bracelet with them:
And today I'll show you a pendant. (And tomorrow look for matching earrings!)
Materials and Tools:
- 18 gauge wire
- 3 headpins
- 3 beads. I used Rainbow Fluorite Round Beads 7-8mm from Happy Mango Beads.
- Wire cutters
- Round nose pliers
- Chain nose pliers
- Ring mandrel or something like a big, thick highlighter.
- Hammer and steel block or anvil.
Step #1Cut a piece of the 18 gauge wire to approximately 6 inches long.Step #2
Wrap the wire around the big end of the ring mandrel, or use something cylindrical you have on hand.Twist the wire around.Step #3
Grasp one end with the round nose pliers.Step #4
Wrap the wire around the barrel of the pliers toward you and then between the pliers and the loop.Step #5
Hold the loop you made with chain nose pliers and then continue wrapping the wire around. Then wrap the other wire around. Cut off any excess wire.
Step #6
Hammer the circle you made. I like the marks on the wire, so I just hammered until I liked it. You can actually use any hammer for this.
Step #7
Make 3 bead dangles with the Rainbow Fluorite.(If you need help making dangles, watch my video How to Make a Bead Dangle)Step #8
Open 3 jump rings.(If you need help opening jump rings, see my video How to Properly Open and Close Jump Rings)Step #9
Add the bead dangles to the circle using the jump rings.
Just add to any chain and you've got a great pendant! To Customize This Pendant:
- Make it bigger.
- Make it smaller.
- Add more beads.
- Use less beads.
Tomorrow I'll show you the matching earrings!
