Wire Wrapped Circle PendantThis is a fun and unique pendant to make and wear.  Make sure to check out ideas to customize it at the end.Are you new to wire wrapped jewelry?  Sign up for my FREE Quick Start Guide to Wire Wrapped Jewelry and get a solid background in wire wrapped jewelry!This makes a great pendant or make 2 and use them as earrings, just make sure to use a lightweight wire if you're going to make earrings.I used a lightweight aluminum 24 gauge wire, but any 22 gauge to 24 gauge wire in any metal would work just fine, too.Since I originally wrote this tutorial I've made a video tutorial, ECT TV Episode 29 (Emerging Creatively Tutorials TV)Materials and ToolsMaterials and Tools:

  • 22 to 24 gauge half-hard, round wire.  (You can experiment with the metal and gauge)
  • Wire cutters
  • Round nose pliers
  • Ring mandrel (A big highlighter or other cylindrical object that is as big as you would like your pendant will work well, too!)

Step #1Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 1Leave the wire on the spool and work from the loose end.  Start wrapping around the ring mandrel or whatever cylindrical object you are using.  Keep wrapping until you like the size.Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 2Step #2Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 3Finish wrapping where you started.  Leave a long tail of wire and cut off the roll.Step #3Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 4Start wrapping around the top, making sure to catch the other loose end of wire in your wraps.Step #4Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 5Wrap around several times until the top is secure.Step #5Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 6Grasp the loose wire near the pendant with round nose pliers just above the wraps you just made.Step #6Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 7Wrap the wire around one barrel of the round nose pliers and under.  Wrap around the wire one time.  Then remove your pliers.Step #7Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 8Grasp the loop in chain nose pliers.  (See how off-center this loop is - straighten this out or try to keep it straight to begin with.  I'll show you another trick to get it more in line in the next step, too.)Step #8Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 9Wrap through the pendant, then around the loop and continue until the loop is stable.  Pull the loop into place while you are doing this.Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 10Step #9Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 11Finish wrapping by wrapping around the loop.Step #10Wire Wrapped Pendant Tutorial 12Cut off the excess wire and make sure the end is not poking out.What to do with your wire wrapped circle pendant:

  • Now you can add to a chain or cord.
  • You could make 2 and add earring wires.
  • Try adding small beads randomly to the wire.  (See tutorial here)
