Adjustable Wire Ring Tutorial
This ring is quick and easy and a great introduction to making wire wrapped rings. It's also adjustable making it ideal for giving to people when you don't know their ring size and a great little ring to make quick sales at craft shows.Materials and Tools:
- Wire - I used 20 gauge, half-hard wire for this tutorial, but even thicker would be great, too! (The lower the number the thicker the wire.)
- Ring Mandrel
- Round Nose Pliers
- Wire cutters
Cut a piece of wire about 3" - 5" long. Obviously, if your finger is bigger, you'll need a longer piece of wire. Experiment.Step #2Use your round nose pliers to make a loop on one end.
Step #3
Make a loop on the other end, in the opposite direction as seen in the photo above.Step #4
Wrap the wire around the ring mandrel or another round object.Keep the wire straight the the 2 loops will be flat as seen in the photo below. For a different look, you could hammer the wire flat before wrapping around the ring mandrel.
That's all there is to this ring! Simple and elegant. If you want to take it a few steps further, check out my Adjustable Wire Ring with Bead Clusters Pattern.
