Create a Cool New Necklace From a Broken Vintage Necklace
I bought this cool vintage necklace at an estate sale. I love the beads, but the necklace was broken, and sort of boring and not really my style. So I decided to take it apart and make it into a new necklace. Here's how I did it:Step #1
Find a vintage necklace. Make sure that the beads aren't fused. The necklace should have beads that can be separated. This particular necklace has the beads wire wrapped and attached, so I took my pliers and separated them. If you find a strung necklace, simply cut it apart.Step #2
To get the wire out of the beads, I had to cut one end off and slide the wire out.Step #3
I purchased this new finding that went great with my vintage necklace.Step #4
Make bead dangle charms with the crystal beads.Step #5
Cut a short length of chain and then add the dangles to the chain with jump rings. Add the dangles to the chain on alternative sides.Step #6
Make a second chain of bead dangles.Step #7
Add the 2 chains of bead dangles to the back of the finding using jump rings.Step #8
Add chain to the finding.Step #9
Add 1 end of a clasp to each end of the chain.Step #10
Enjoy your new necklace!Do you have any broken necklaces around? Are you going to try to repurpose them?
