Simple Scrapbook Guide Step 1: Photos
This year one of my creative goals is to finally get all of my wedding photos printed and then make a scrapbook.I had purchased a small 8" X 8" scrapbook to use as a guestbook. I had my guests take their photo at a photo booth and then sign/decorate a piece of scrapbook paper that I will add the photo to.Now, I have a vision of creating a big master scrapbook with all of my wedding photos in the same scrapbook.(Update: This didn't work because 8" X 8" was too small. I started it as you'll see in this series, but eventually decided to have my guestbook in this small album and created a large album with all the photos from my wedding.)So, while I would love to make a big, beautiful complicated scrapbook, I figure DONE is better than one that is not done because I'm trying to make it perfect, right? Breaking it down into easy steps will make it go a lot quicker and easier.Do you have a scrapbooking project you want to work on but you're too overwhelmed to start? Let's do this together in weekly steps!
Step #1I uploaded my photos to an online print service in a very organized manner. Yet somehow the photos came to me in a mixed-up jumbled mess. Everything is completely out of order.Step one is to organize your photos and other mementos for your scrapbook. Before you even get to that point, you may need to actually upload the photos to your computer, organize them and decide which photos to actually have printed.(There are also lots of photo places that allow you to upload directly from your phone or take in a memory card and upload them there.)After you get the photos printed, organize them in a logical order, which will typically mean chronologically. For me that means separating out the wedding photos, pre wedding photos and honeymoon photos and then placing them in chronological order. Then I'll add in any other mementos like ticket stubs, programs, flyers, etc.I love adding in all the extra mementos to my scrapbooks.**If you haven't printed your photos, go ahead and do that now.**If you have years of photos you want to scrapbook, then why not just pick a time period and start there. It might be easier and more satisfying to start with the latest/newest photos first and work your way back. So maybe just work on last year's photos, or even just last month's photos. Or if you had a big event (like a wedding, for example), start there!
