How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle Earrings
These pretty natural turquoise and copper wire wrapped earrings are the perfect compliment to the Wire Wrapped Charm Pendant. These gorgeous natural turquoise nuggets are the same ones from Happy Mango Beads that I used in that tutorial, too. Here's how to make the Wire Wrapped Triangle Earrings:
Materials and Tools:
- Natural Turquoise Nugget Beads 12-16mm – 2; From Happy Mango Beads
- 20 gauge copper wire
- 2 copper jump rings
- Wire cutters
- Round nose pliers
- Chain nose pliers
- Another pair of pliers - I used bent nose pliers
Step #1Cut about a five inch length of the 20 gauge copper wire.Step #2
Grab the wire part way down the wire and bend it around one barrel of the round nose pliers.Step #3
Take the wire off the round nose pliers.Grasp the loop between the pliers of chain nose pliers. Wrap around the wire a few times.Step #4
Cut off any excess wire and make sure the end is tucked in and not poking out.Step #5
Slide one of the natural turquoise nuggets on the wire.Step #6
Repeat steps #2 through #4 for the other side of the bead.Step #7Repeat for the second turquoise nugget.Step #8
Cut 2 pieces of wire about 5 inches long, one for each earring.HINT: It is better to make both of the pair at the same time to make sure they're the same size.Step #9
Holding the wire in the middle of wire, fold the wire in half.Step #10
Still holding the wire, make a loop.Step #11
Then twist the wire.Step #12
Twist it again.Step #13
Pull the wire off the round nose pliers. Then carefully push the ends closer together, but make sure that the wraps don't unwrap.Step #14
Make a loop at the end of each side.Step #15
Adjust the width between the 2 loops so it's the size of the wire wrapped link you made earlier.Step #16
Open 2 jump rings.Step #17
Attach a loop from the bead link to a link of the triangle with the jump ring. Then attach the other side.Repeat for the other earring.Step #18Then you can add earring wires.I didn't have any pre-made copper earring wires, so I made some of my own.Step #19
Cut a piece of wire about 2 and 1/2 inches.Step #20
Wrap the wire around a ring mandrel or other round item to make a curve as seen.Step #21
Put a loop in one end.Step #22
Put a bend in the other end of the wire. This isn't necessary, but it looks nicer.Step #23
Open up the loop.Step #24
Place the loop of the triangle in and then close the loop.Repeat for the second earring.
