How to Make Beaded Hoop Earrings
This tutorial is for really versatile and fun beaded hoop earrings!I used recycled glass beads, so I only beaded about halfway so the earrings wouldn't be so heavy. If you're using lightweight beads you could bead the entire hoop. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
Materials and Tools:
- Beads - mine are recycled glass beads from Happy Mango Beads
- 20 gauge, half-hard, round wire
- Earring wires, or you can just make your own earring wires
- Wire cutters
- Round nose pliers
- Chain nose pliers
- Bent nose pliers
Step #1Cut 2 pieces of the 20 gauge wire to 9 inches each.Step #2
Slide the beads on the wire. Be mindful about how heavy the earrings will be. The beads I used are glass, so I put 8 on each wire. If your beads are lighter, you can obviously use more.Step #3
Make a teardrop shape and hold the wires where they cross. The wire ends above my thumb are about 1 1/2" eachStep #4
Give the wire 2 twists while still holding the wires where they cross.Step #5
Hold one of the loose ends with your round nose pliers. Wrap the wire around the pliers to from a loop.Step #6
Take the loop of the round nose pliers and straighten it. Then hold the loop with pliers and wrap 2 more times.Step #7
Cut off any excess wire making a flush cut. Make sure the end is not poking out.Repeat for the other earring.Step #8
Open an earring wire and place the loop in and close the earring wire.Step #9
Repeat for the other earring and you're done!
