52 Reasons I Love You - Playing Card Book Tutorial

52 Reasons I love you tutorial I think I first saw this project on Pinterest.  I love reusing old materials and making them into something awesome so I knew I would be making this.  I had seen other "52..." things before, like 52 books to read before you die, etc.  But none that had the cards bound together. The original tutorial from the original designer can be found here.  You can see her 52 reasons project and even get a template for the reasons.52 Reasons I love you tutorial 52 Reasons I love you tutorial This is the original book I made for my husband for his birthday.  I didn't number the reasons, and I think I would prefer them to be numbered now.  Also, I put the cards themselves in any random order and now I think that it would be nice to put them in some sort of order. Also, I put the reasons on the back of the cards, while the original tutorial author put them on the front.  You can decide which way you prefer. Materials and Tools:

  • A deck of cards
  • Paper to print out your "reasons" and title
  • Scrapbook paper - I used 2 different papers
  • Glue - I used a glue stick and mod podge, but other glues will work as well.
  • For the embellished brad:  Tissue paper, brad
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon

Step #1To start, you want to write and print your "reasons."  You can use the template on the page I linked to at the beginning, or just do what I did and type them using a word document.  I just eyeballed the size. For my husband's I did the same thing for the cover title.  For the more girly one I made for this tutorial, I used my trusty typewriter and typed it out.Step #2  52 Reasons I love you tutorialTake the 2 jokers out of the deck.  These will be your front and back covers.(I made mine with cute covers and a tie closure.  You can just use the cards themselves without the paper cover or ribbon.)Step #352 Reasons I love you tutorialPick out paper for your cover.  Then trace around the card on the back of the paper and cut it out.Step #452 Reasons I love you tutorialI added a second layer for the cover.Step #552 Reasons I love you tutorial52 Reasons I love you tutorialGlue the top layer to the background.Step #652 Reasons I love you tutorial52 Reasons I love you tutorialI used my Embellished Brad Tutorial to create the sweet flower on the cover.Step #752 Reasons I Love You TutorialAdd the brad to the cover.Step #852 Reasons I Love You Tutorial52 Reasons I Love You TutorialCreate and cut out your title.  Adhere it to the cover.Step #952 Reasons I Love You TutorialSandwich the ribbon in between the scrapbook paper cover you just created and the top joker card.  Make sure to leave enough ribbon to tie.  I just let the ribbon go out on both sides and trimmed off the left side after the glue dried.Glue it together.52 Reasons I Love You Tutorial52 Reasons I Love You TutorialDo the same for the back cover, making sure to line up the ribbon in the same spot on the back so you can tie them when you're done.Step #10Glue on your "reasons."  Put one reason on each card.  I used mod podge for each and put a layer over the top as well.Allow them to dry.Step #11Put 2 holes in each card.Step #1252 Reasons I love you tutorialThread the cards onto the rings.Step #1352 Reasons I Love You TutorialClose the rings, tie the ribbon and you have a really sweet gifts.52 Reasons I love you tutorialThis is a really wonderful gift.  Really put thought into the reasons you love the person.  Think of funny reasons, too.  My husband laughed and he cried.  He loved it.I'm thinking about making them for all the people that I love.52 Reasons I love you tutorial
