ECT TV Episode 51: Adjustable Bangle Bracelet

ECT TV Episode 51In Episode 51 of Emerging Creatively Tutorials TV, I'll show you how to make an adjustable bangle bracelet.Then you can express your creativity by choosing and making charms to add to it.Watch the video:Step-by-Step Instructions for the Adjustable Bangle Bracelet:ECT TV Episode 51Materials and Tools:

  • 14 gauge dead soft round wire
  • Charms to add (any you like.  You can use bead dangles or pre-made charms)
  • Wire cutters
  • Round nose pliers
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Nylon or rawhide hammer and steel block

Step #1ECT TV Episode 51ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletMeasure the wire around your wrist, allowing room to get the wire over your hand and cut the wire.Make a flush cut on each end of the wire.Step #2ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletMake a loop on each end of the wire.  One loop will go up and the other will go down.  (This will make more sense as you keep reading through these instructions.)I made a relatively large loop, so I held the wire in my round nose pliers close to the handle.To make a loop hole the wire in round nose pliers.  The wire should be at the top of the pliers, but not poking through the top and you should be able to run your finger over the top.Twist your wrist away from you while wrapping the wire around the pliers.  Go as far as your wrist will allow then readjust the wire on the pliers and complete the loop.Step #3ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletUse chain nose pliers to bend up the loop and make sure that the loops are facing opposite directions.  You can twist or bend the wire to accomplish this.Step #4ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletOpen the loops just like you would open a jump ring.  Do not pull the loop apart, but instead open it front and back and maintain the circle shape.Step #5ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletPlace the wire from the bracelet in the loops and close the loops.  You can see in this photo how one is facing up and one is facing down.Step #6ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletMake sure your bracelet is in the shape that you want it and hammer it with a nylon or rawhide hammer.  Hold the part where the double wire is off the steel block (you won't be able to hammer that part.)Hammer gently to harden the wire.  The nylon or rawhide hammer will harden the wire without flattening it.Step #7ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletAdd charms and/or bead dangles as you like using jump rings.Need help opening and closing jump rings?  Click here for a short helpful video.To keep your charms in kind of one spot, place them where the wire is doubled and make sure that your loops are closed completely.  Otherwise they'll move around the entire bracelet.ECT TV Episode 51:  Adjustable Bangle BraceletAdditional resources:Make sure you sign up for my free 14 Day Intro to Jewelry Making eCourse (which also signs you up for my weekly newsletter!)You'll also get a PDF eBook that you can download/save/print of new ECT TV projects whenever I post a new one!Subscribe to our mailing list
