Hi there and welcome to a new episode of Emerging Creatively Tutorials TV (ECT TV)!Today you'll learn how to make this pretty bracelet. I show you how to make a wire wrapped bead, how to make coiled cord ends and open and close jump rings. Here's today's video episode:
Step-by-Step Photo Instructions:These are the exact step-by-step photo instructions of the exact tutorial in the video.
Tools and Materials:
- Focal bead (your choice)
- Silk ribbon (I used silk ribbon and silk fairy ribbon from Happy Mango beads)
- 20 gauge, half-hard, round wire, any metal
- 22 gauge, half-hard, round wire, any metal
- Clasp ( I used this toggle clasp)
- 7mm jump rings
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
- Round nose pliers
- Chain nose pliers
- Bent nose pliers
Step #1Cut a piece of wire that's the length of your focal bead plus 3 inches.Step #2
Hold the wire about 1 1/2" from the top in round nose pliers.Step #3
Wrap the wire around one barrel of the pliers to form a loop.Step #4
Now we need to straighten the loop. This is the way I do it. Hold the loop in chain nose pliers. Then wrap the short end around the longer end of the wire while pulling out the long end straight.
Step #5
Wrap around two more times.Step #6
Trim off the excess wire making a flush cut.Step #7
Make sure the end is not poking out.Step #8
Slide your focal bead onto the wire.Step #9
Hold the wire 1/4" above the bead.Step #10
Wrap the wire around one barrel of the round nose pliers forming a loop.Step #11
Straighten the loop by wrapping the wire around once while pulling the bead out straight.Step #12
Wrap around two additional times, trim off the excess wire making a flush cut and make sure the end is not poking out.Step #13
Open a jump ring and attach the circle part of the toggle clasp. Now you can measure that portion of the bracelet and figure out how long to make the ribbon section of the bracelet.Step #14
Cut about 5 inches of 22 gauge wire.Step #15
Don't cut the ribbon yet. Thread a jump ring onto the end of the ribbon. I used both regular silk ribbon and fairy ribbon, so 2 ribbons.Step #16
Fold about an inch of ribbon over.Step #17
Wrap around the ribbon with the 22 gauge wire. Wrap around a few times pulling tightly.Step #18
Trim off the excess wire and make sure the ends of the wire aren't poking out.
Measure the ribbon, add an extra inch or so and then cut the ribbon. Repeat Steps #14 - 17 for the other side.Step #19
Trim off the excess ribbon.Step #20
Attach one end of the ribbon to one side of the wire wrapped bead link using a jump ring. Add the other side of the toggle clasp to the other side of the ribbon.
