How to Make a Tassel Pendant

Tassel Pendant TutorialThis is Part 3 of a 3 Part series to give you a bit of insight into Rediscover Your Creativity & Make Jewelry eCourse. In the actual eCourse, you get all three parts in one week and you get many more projects, but for this I’ll be sharing a new part each week.  (These prompts are different from the eCourse, but it will give you an idea of what it’s like.)Part 1:  Creativity BoosterPart 2:  Jewelry Skills Lesson (ECT TV Episode 78:  How to Make a Wire Wrapped Bead LinkPart 3:  Jewelry Project (this!)How to Make a Tassel PendantIn the video I show you how to create this fun tassel.  You can customize it to your own personal style and however you would like to express yourself.  (See some ideas for customizing below!)Video Tutorial:Tools and Materials:

Chain:As I show you in the video, this project is a great way to use up bits of leftover chain you have.  I save all my chain from other projects and then use them up making chain tassels. You can even use up tiny bits of chain by using a wire wrapped bead link to attach 2 short pieces of chain.Charms:Use any charms you like.  I tend to pick up charms here and there along the way and have a collection.  If you don't, you can purchase charms that you like to use for this tassel.  You may want to add in some bead dangles or other little objects that have significance for you.Customize the tassel:I decided to make this tassel a talisman of sorts to remind me of the feelings I want to evoke this coming year.  Do you choose a word of the year?  This could be the perfect project to add in little charms to remind you of that word. You may want to come up with another theme or you could add in charms like you would normally do on a charm bracelet with each charm having a specific meaning for something (or someone) important in your life.Other ideas for themes for your tassel:

  • Choose a special color theme and add in charms with that color.
  • Do you have a hobby like reading or gardening? Make a tassel to represent that.
  • Maybe you want to do a tassel around a specific holiday.

Ways to change the tassel to make it more you!

  • Make the chains longer or shorter.
  • Mix and match metals for the chains.
  • Make earrings instead of a pendant.  (Be careful with how heavy the earrings are and you may want to shorten the chains.)
  • Make it simple with just plain chains and no other ornamentation.

I hope you feel inspired to express your own creativity with this project.I would love if you would share a photo of what you made.  You can upload it in the "reply" box below.

3 Part Series Recap:As a recap for this 3 Part Series, we started with a creativity booster.  The creativity booster is an activity that's designed to get your creative juices flowing.  In this series we had a music creativity booster. Then I shared a jewelry skills lesson. In this series I showed you how to make a wire wrapped bead link. Finally, today we made a project.  In this case, I showed you how to make a tassel.  When I was doing Part 1 (the creativity booster) I sketched jewelry and the tassel pendant was something that I sketched. If when you did the creativity booster you sketched something else entirely, I wholeheartedly suggest that you attempt to make a piece of jewelry that you sketched.  If you need some assistance with technical aspects of what you drew - the actual making of your sketch, you may want to check out my Wire Wrapping for Beginners eCourse or join in for the next session of Rediscover Your Creativity & Make Jewelry eCourse.Rediscover Your Creativity & Make Jewelry is similar to this 3 Part series.  Each week for 5 weeks you get a creativity booster, jewelry skills lessons and jewelry projects.  (Week 6 is a little bit different from the other weeks.  It's designed to really bring everything you learned in the eCourse together.)It's similar in style to this 3 part series, but much more in depth and you get my personal attention and guidance.  You get more jewelry skills lessons each week and more jewelry projects.I hope you'll join us in the next session of Rediscover Your Creativity & Make Jewelry eCourse!Rediscover Your Creativity & Make Jewelry
