This wreath is perfect on the tree, but it looks so gorgeous hanging in the sunlight, so I have mine hanging in the window.

Perfect extra gift to add on top of a gift!

Wire Wrapped Wreath Ornament Tutorial

Wire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialMaterials and Tools:

  • Red crow beads from Happy Mango Beads*
  • Green crow beads from Happy Mango Beads*
  • 16 Gauge wire
  • 20 gauge wire
  • The raffia that the crow beads come strung on.
  • A can
  • Wire cutters
  • Round nose pliers
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Another pair of pliers, I used bent nose pliers

*You could use any color that you like for the wreath!

For these ornaments, feel free to use the artistic wire you find in craft wire, silver plated copper, copper or any other wire since you won’t be wearing the ornament.

Step #1

Wire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialWrap the wire around the can and leave a little extra wire on each side.

Step #6

Wire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialWire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialCut a piece of 20 gauge wire.  I usually work in about 15 to 20 inch pieces.  It’s easy to add more wire as you go along.

Start to wrap it around the wraps from the loop and then once around the wire of the circle.

Step #7

Wire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialWire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialSlide a crow bead onto the wire.  Wrap the 20 gauge of wire around the base attaching the bead to the base securely.

Step #8

Wire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialWire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialAdd another bead and wrap the wire around the base.

A note on wrapping:  There isn’t an exact science for doing this.  I like to wrap in between each bead and then go back and wrap around the bead or 2 before the one I just added.  You’ll get the hang of it and understand more as you make the wreath.

When you use up all your wrapping wire, securely attach the end to the base.  Then cut another piece of 20 gauge wire to continue wrapping.  Work the end in by wrapping it a couple beads in from where you started.  Make sure the end isn’t poking out.

Step #10

Wire Wrapped Wreath Ornament TutorialWhen you get all the way around, secure the end of the wire to the base.

Step #11

Wire Wrapping for Beginners Day 22: Wire Wrapped Hardware Ring from Side

wire wrapped hardware ringThis month I’m working my way though my own book, Wire Wrapping For Beginners, and making 1 project per day.  I wanted to show you different examples of the projects while making myself some new jewelry!

Today is Day 21 and the project is the Wire Wrapped Hardware Ring from Side.

wire wrapped hardware ringAs you can see, you can use any hardware to really customize this ring.  You just have to make sure that you’re not using hardware that will scratch your finger on the bottom.  In this ring I used a regular washer on the bottom to alleviate that problem.

Wire Wrapped Hardware RingThis month I’m working my way though my own book, Wire Wrapping For Beginners, and making 1 project per day.  I wanted to show you different examples of the projects while making myself some new jewelry!

Today is Day 21 and the project is the Wire Wrapped Hardware Ring.

Hardware Wire wrapped ring

In the book, I show a ring with nuts as the main component, so this time I used a variety of hardware.  I think it makes a really stunning and funky ring.

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle Earrings

Wire Wrapped Triange EarringsThese pretty natural turquoise and copper wire wrapped earrings are the perfect compliment to the Wire Wrapped Charm Pendant.

These gorgeous natural turquoise nuggets are the same ones from Happy Mango Beads that I used in that tutorial, too.

Here’s how to make the Wire Wrapped Triangle Earrings:

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsMaterials and Tools:

Step #1

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle Earrings

Cut about a five inch length of the 20 gauge copper wire.

Step #2

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsGrab the wire part way down the wire and bend it around one barrel of the round nose pliers.

Step #3

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsTake the wire off the round nose pliers.

Grasp the loop between the pliers of chain nose pliers.  Wrap around the wire a few times.

Step #4

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsCut off any excess wire and make sure the end is tucked in and not poking out.

Step #5

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsSlide one of the natural turquoise nuggets on the wire.

Step #6

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsRepeat steps #2 through #4 for the other side of the bead.

Step #7

Repeat for the second turquoise nugget.

Step #8

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsCut 2 pieces of wire about 5 inches long, one for each earring.

HINT:  It is better to make both of the pair at the same time to make sure they’re the same size.

Step #9

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHolding the wire in the middle of wire, fold the wire in half.

Step #10

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsStill holding the wire, make a loop.

Step #11

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsThen twist the wire.

Step #12

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsTwist it again.

Step #13

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsPull the wire off the round nose pliers.  Then carefully push the ends closer together, but make sure that the wraps don’t unwrap.

Step #14

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsMake a loop at the end of each side.

Step #15

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsAttach a loop from the bead link to a link of the triangle with the jump ring.  Then attach the other side.

Repeat for the other earring.

Step #18

Then you can add earring wires.

I didn’t have any pre-made copper earring wires, so I made some of my own.

Step #19

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsCut a piece of wire about 2 and 1/2 inches.

Step #20

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsHow to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsWrap the wire around a ring mandrel or other round item to make a curve as seen.

Step #21

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsPut a loop in one end.

Step #22

How to Make Wire Wrapped Triangle EarringsPut a bend in the other end of the wire.  This isn’t necessary, but it looks nicer.

Step #23
