I love making spirals.  I feel like it’s kind of becoming a signature look of mine in my jewelry pieces.

Spirals even show up in my paintings:

BraveSo what is it about spirals that I love?

I love how they just continuously keep going.

I think they look cool.

They fit into my simple, clean style of jewelry making very well, while adding a bit of a twist.

They are so much fun to make!

Now, it’s your turn to try making spiral jewelry!  What will you make first?

4.  Spiral Wire Ring

I am obsessed with these rings.  I actually designed it years ago and had just the one ring for myself.  Then recently I decided to release a tutorial on how to make it.  It’s the first in a series of new individual jewelry patterns I will be releasing (because you asked for that in my survey!)

5.  Spiral Wire Jewelry Tutorials eBook

Well, it’s really a bunch of tutorials in one.  As you can see, two of the tutorials I mentioned above are in this eBook (in easy to download and/or print and take your worktable format), plus I love that bangle bracelet tutorial.

I actually have made myself several of the spiral bangle bracelets and I wear them constantly.  I love to pile on the bracelets, wearing a whole bunch of bracelets stacked at one time and that bracelet goes perfectly with almost everything.  (And once you get the base made and get the technique down, it goes pretty quickly!)

So have a convinced you to try to make wire spirals?

Wire Wrapping for Beginners Day 14: Wire Wrapping Anything

How to Wire Wrap AnythingThis month I’m working my way though my own book, Wire Wrapping For Beginners, and making 1 project per day.  I wanted to show you different examples of the projects while making myself some new jewelry!

Today is Day 14 and the project is Wire Wrapping Anything.

The actual project in the book is the Monopoly Charm Bracelet.  I use this project to show you tips and tricks to wire wrap anything!

Rock Charm Bracelet TutorialA few weeks ago I traveled to Lewes, Delaware and came across this beautiful beach with tons of beautiful stones.

My family and I love to travel, and we often find ourselves in lovely natural settings.  When I was creating my Rediscover Your Creativity through Making Jewelry eCourse, one project is making jewelry from things you find in nature.  I created my first rock charm and started my bracelet.

I then decided that it would be awesome to collect stones from the places we visit and add them to my bracelet.  So now I have three charms that have very significant memories, and I know it will continue to grow.

Rock Charm Bracelet The project in the book is the Monopoly Bracelet, but you can wire wrap anything using the techniques in the book.  (If you want a video and more specific information on wire wrapping and making jewelry from natural things, I would recommend my Rediscover Your Creativity & Make Jewelry eCourse or Nature Jewelry Workshop!)

Rock Charm Bracelet If you want to create along with me, grab the Wire Wrapping For Beginners book.  (You can purchase and instantly download the e-version or get the print version shipped to you!)

How to use bent nose pliersBent Nose Pliers

I had bent nose pliers in my collection long before I realized how helpful they were.  The only thing I thought they did was open split rings.

Then one day I used them to open jump rings.  I don’t know what it is about the bend that makes them so useful opening jump rings, but once you try them, you won’t look back.

How to use bent nose pliersBent nose pliers are helpful when wire wrapping, either to hold the wire or to use to wrap the wire.

How to use Nylon Covered Pliers Nylon Covered Pliers

When you get wire it’s usually in a coil.  Use nylon covered pliers to straighten out wire.

Note:  Do not do this too many times.  It will harden your wire.

Nylon pliers are great because when the nylon starts to wear out, you just replace it.
