Materials and Tools:

  • 16 gauge, dead soft or half-hard round wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Ring mandrel

Step #1

ECT TV Episode 76: Stacked Wire Rose RingWe’ll work right off the spool, so we’re not going to cut off any wire for now.

Hold the wire on the size ring you want to make and leave 3 to 4 inches of a tail.

Step #2

ECT TV Episode 76: Stacked Wire Rose Ring

Wrap around 5 times or however many times you like.

Cut the wire leaving a tail of about 3 to 4 inches on the other side as well.

Step #3

ECT TV Episode 76: Stacked Wire Rose Ring

Pull the wires together around the ring mandrel and pull out to the sides to pull everything tightly.

Then twist the loose wires.

Step #4

ECT TV Episode 76: Stacked Wire Rose Ring

Twist around again with both wires.  The wires should go under the first wraps.

At this point you can go more freestyle or make a neater rose.

Step #5

Go around a few more times and then trim the ends of the wire making flush cuts.

Step #6

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Hi there and welcome to a new episode of Emerging Creatively Tutorials TV (ECT TV)!

Today I’ll show you how to make a quick and simple wire ring!

Here’s today’s video episode:

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Step-by-Step Photo Instructions:

These are step-by-step photo instructions that are the same tutorial that’s in the video.

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Tools and materials:

  • 18 gauge, half-hard round wire – any metal
  • Wire cutters
  • Round nose pliers
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Ring mandrel
  • Ruler

Step #1

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Cut approximately 7 inches of 18 gauge, half-hard, round wire.  Depending on the size of your ring you may need less, but you can cut off any excess later.

Step #2

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Find the middle of the wire.

Step #3

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Bend the wire in half around round nose pliers.  Straighten out the wire, but be careful not to work with the wire too much because it will start to harden and be difficult to work with.

Step #4

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Form a ring around the ring mandrel.

Make sure that your wires do not cross or get twisted.

Step #5

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Remove the wire from the ring mandrel and pull the loose ends in between the bent part of the ring.

Step #6

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Place the ring back on the ring mandrel and situate it at the correct size that you’d like to make.

Make sure the ring is wrapped tightly around.

Now pull each of the loose ends back against the bend.

Step #7

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Trim each wire to a little over 1/4 inch making a flush cut.

Step #8

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Now we’ll create loops on the ends of the wires going in opposite directions.

Hold one of the wires in round nose pliers.  The wire should be at the top of your pliers, but not poking through.  Twist your wrist away from you wrapping the wire around the pliers.  Go as far as your wrist will allow, readjust and complete the loop.

Step #9

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Repeat on the other wire creating a loop going in the opposite direction.

Step #10

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Now you can spiral the wires a little bit.  If you would like more of a spiral, cut a longer length of wire at the beginning and do not trim the wire so shortly in Step #7.

Hold the loop in chain nose pliers and move the pliers so that the wire begins to spiral.

Step #11

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

Place the ring back on the ring mandrel and push down the loops/spirals to make sure they’re not poking up.

ECT TV Episode 61: Simple Wire Ring

And that’s the completed ring!

How to Make a Simple Wire Ring

ECT TV Episode 60: Wire Wrapped Rose Ring

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring

Welcome to a new episode of Emerging Creatively Tutorials TV (ECT TV!)

Today I’ll sharing a video tutorial of one of my most popular blog tutorials, the Wire Wrapped Rose Ring.  I haven’t previously shared this video in a free format.

It’s very pretty and looks great, but it’s pretty simple to make!

By the way, I say Episode 62 in the intro.  I don’t know what I was thinking, but it is Episode 60!

Here’s today’s video episode:

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring Tutorial

Step-by-Step Photo Instructions:

These are step-by-step photo instructions of the exact same tutorial that’s in the video.

Rose Ring Tutorial Materials and ToolsMaterials and Tools:

  • 18 or 20 gauge, half-hard round wire (any metal you like)
  • Ring mandrel
  • Wire cutters
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Serrated chain nose pliers (with teeth)
Note:  If you don’t have a ring mandrel, try a wooden dowel rod in the size of your finger.  However, you can get ring mandrels relatively inexpensively.
If you use 18 gauge wire, the rose will be larger.  If you use 20 gauge it will be smaller.
Step #1

Cut about 24 inches of wire.  If you’re making a small ring, you’ll need less; bigger ring, you’ll need more.

Step #2

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialWrap the wire around the ring mandrel 3 times.  (There will be 4 wires showing in the back.)  Do this about 1 full ring size larger than the size you are trying to make.

Step #3

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialAfter step 2, the ends of the wire should end up in the front.

Gather all the wires closely together and move them to about a 1/2 size bigger than the ring size you are trying to make.

Twist the wires.  (See photo below.)

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialStep #4

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialTake an end of the wire in each hand.  Twist the wire in a circular motion.  With each wrap, go under the previous wrap.

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring Tutorial

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialIn all honesty, I forgot to count how many twists I did when I made this particular ring.  I made another one and counted, and I did 8 twists.

However, just do it until you like the look.  How many twists you do will depend on the gauge of your wire as well.

Step #5

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialCarefully take the ring off the ring mandrel.  Be careful to make sure the wires don’t unwrap.

Wrap each end through the ring band and around the ring band next to the rose.  They should be on opposite sides going in opposite directions.

Step #6

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialReturn the ring to the ring mandrel.  Pull the wire down very hard with serrated chain nose pliers.  Just hold the wire at the very ends (you’ll cut that part off at the very end.)

Note:  Sometimes when you pull wire very hard it can break.  Be careful!!

After pulling down as hard as you can, bend the wire up and across the ring band.  (See photo below.)

Take the ring off the ring mandrel, flip the ring so the other side’s wire is facing down and repeat on the other side.

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialStep #7

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialTake the ring off the mandrel and wrap around two to three more times around the ring band.

Step #8

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialPlace the ring back on the mandrel again and follow Step #6 again.

Step #9

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialCut off the excess wire from each end.  I like to end in the middle of the top of the ring.

Step #10

Wire Wrapped Rose Ring TutorialUsing your non-serrated chain nose pliers, push in the ends and make sure they aren’t loose or won’t catch on anything.

ECT TV 37

Today we’re making an Adjustable Triangle Ring!

Watch the video episode:

Tutorial:

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Tools and Materials:

  • 18 gauge, half-hard round wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Ring Mandrel
  • Square nose pliers
  • Bead Smith Mandrel 4K tool or you can use pliers to make the triangles

Step #1

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Cut approximately 12 inches of 18 gauge half-hard round wire.

Step #2

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Loosely find the middle of the wire.  I like to hold the ends together and make kind of an oval.

Step #3

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Hold the wire in the middle with squared pliers.  Then fold the wire down forming a square.

If you don’t have this tool, you can make two bends using your chain nose pliers.

Step #4

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Figure out what size ring you would like to make.  You’ll wrap around the size smaller.  This ring is adjustable, but it’s a little better to have the ring a little too small and adjust it larger than the other way.

I hold my thumb on the bent square part and wrap the two ends around.  The loose ends will be on the outside of the square piece.

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Step #5

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Trim off the wire so it’s approximately an inch and a half past the point where it’s parallel with the square part.

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Step #6

Adjustable Triangle Ring Tutorial

Use the triangle mandrel from the Mandrel 4X to form a triangle going away from the ring on each end.

If you don’t have this tool, form a triangle using your pliers.
