Hanging Jar Lantern Tutorial
Use whatever leftover beads you have around and upcycled canning jars (or really any jars) you have around to create these sweet hanging lanterns.
You can hang these around for special events, or to just bring a little bit of loveliness in your every day.
Materials and Tools:
- Canning jar or other jar – as long as you can get a candle in and have a way to light it.
- Leftover beads
- Tea candle
- Wire – I used floral wire.
- Wire cutters
- Pliers
Step #1
Measure around the top of the jar and cut your wire several inches longer than you think you need.
Step #2
Slide enough beads onto the wire to go around the jar.
Step #3
Now we’re going to wrap the beads around the jar. Note the ridges on the top of the jar. Wrap the beaded wire around in between the ridges. Make sure that the beads are secure in between the ridges because that is what holds the handle.
Step #4
Twist the wire tightly. Make sure to wrap the wire so it doesn’t come undone.
Step #5
Cut off the excess wire with your wire cutters.
Step #6
Measure wire for the handle. Add a few extra inches on each side.
Step #7
Bend each end up a few inches from the end.
Step #8
Slide each side under the beaded wire as shown.
Step #9
Twist the handle wire around the beaded wire, in between 2 beads.
Step #10
Twist the wire around itself, then around the beaded wire again.
Make sure that it is secure. Repeat for the other side.
Step #11
Cut off or tuck in any excess wire. Make sure everything is secure. Then add a candle, light and enjoy!
