This past week I did a little experience. I did a week long collage in my art journal. Each day for a week I added something to a two page layout in my art journal.
I didn’t try to overthink what I chose. A big part of this exercise was not planning out the layout ahead of time.
So each day I simply chose what to add next.
It turned out to go an extra day and on the last day I did add a couple of things, not just one. I was lenient with my own rule because it was doing two pages, so I figured it really could have been a two week collage.
This is a great exercise that you might want to try, too.
Here’s how my layout progressed:
I mostly used images cut out from magazines and junk mail as well as a couple of my own photographs and a bag from a local neighborhood store.
It was fun to see how it progressed each day!
If you try this idea out, leave a comment below. You can even upload a photo of your collage!
